The Karan Johar directed film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil released last week both in Indian and overseas. The film which features Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma has been well received by the audience the world over. In fact the box office collections of the film have shown a steady pace of growth as the week progressed.
In this special box office report we take a look at the opening week overseas collections of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil while comparing the same to previously released films that have worked in the overseas markets. Interestingly AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL that has collected 8.2 million USD [Rs. 54.71 cr] comes in as the Second Highest Opening Week grosser in the overseas market preceded by the Salman Khan starrer Sultan that collected 17.46 million USD [Rs. 116.48 cr] when it released. However, the film does manage to surpass the opening week collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan that had collected 7.73 million USD [Rs. 51.57 cr].

While AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL does place second among the Highest Opening Week grossers, it places third when compared to the lifetime collections of previously released films, preceded by Sultan that collected 23.09 million USD [Rs. 154.04 cr]and Fan that collected 10.08 million USD [Rs. 67.24 cr]. However, since AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL still continues to run in theatres both in India and overseas, there is a high chance that the film will surpass the lifetime overseas collections of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan in the coming days. Similarly AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL also surpasses the lifetime overseas collections of the multi starrer Kapoor & Sons that had collected 7.1 million USD [Rs. 47.37 cr] by the end of its first week in the same market.
