Border 2 is a superhit. The film opened well, and the real fun was from Saturday to Monday when collections went on an overdrive. Though there were drops seen on Wednesday and Thursday (expected too, since this was coming off a huge extended weekend), there wasn’t anything alarming as collections still stayed in that Rs. 13-15 crores range.
What’s required now is that today stays on to be in double digits as well because when that happens, a second weekend of around Rs. 50 crores is definitely on the cards. On Thursday, the film had collected Rs. 13.14 crores and while that was further drop from Wednesday numbers of Rs. 15.04 crores, they are still good enough. Even if there is any sort of slowdown today, more than Rs. 10 crores will still come in, and then there would be a huge jump tomorrow again.
The film has now almost touched Rs. 250 crores as well with the numbers standing at Rs. 244.97 crores. These are the best Week One numbers that Bollywood has seen since Stree 2 and to think of it, that film came 17 months back. It goes on to show how big numbers are so difficult to get at the box office these days and Border 2 is now one of the rare movies to score so well since Chhaava and Dhurandhar.
