Last week saw the release of Akshay Kumar-Imran Khan- Sonakshi Sinha starrer Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara . The film, which is a sequel to the 2010 hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai , was much hyped and was initially planned for Eid release this year. However, the film was shifted by a week for Independence Day release in order to avoid clash between the two biggies on Eid day, namely OUATIMD and Chennai Express .
OUATIMD opened on Independence Day (Thursday) on limited number of screens in India, approx 1600 screens, and collected Rs. 14.20 cr. The original Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi starrer OUATIM however had collected Rs. 6.05 cr on its Opening Day when it released in 2010.
Looking at the Opening Weekend collections, Ajay's OUATIM had collected Rs. 22.01 cr while Akshay's OUATIMD collected Rs. 40 cr nett in India.
