2020 has seen one blockbuster film Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior this year and it had taken a good start of Rs. 15.10 crores. Now Baaghi 3 has surpassed the opening of the Ajay Devgn starrer by bringing in Rs. 17.50 crores on its first day. Of course the kind of trajectory that Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior had enjoyed was something that happens in very rare cases and this is what has resulted in the film's lifetime turning out to be almost 30 times that of the opening day. One can't expect the same for every biggie that opens in this range.
Still, the fact also remains that this is one of the best openings numbers, especially foe a young star. Tiger Shroff has been enjoying a loyal fan following, as evidenced in his solo release Baaghi 2 [Rs. 25.10 crores] and two-hero film War [Rs. 53.35 crores]. Now Baaghi 3 has opened well too, though the numbers could well have been bigger if not for the virus scare. The Sajid Nadiadwala production was expected to open in Rs. 22-25 crores range but would have to settle for a lesser Friday.
Nonetheless, the rest of the weekend still remains and then there is Holi holiday on Tuesday. That would help Monday evening and night shows footfalls as well, though again it has to be seen what's the kind of impact that the health scare across the country has on the Ahmed Khan directed film as the days progress.
