The much talked about and keenly awaited release Animal hit screens on Friday last week. The bloody actioner directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna made waves in the run up to its release. In fact, Animal managed to capture the audiences’ attention and interest with the release of its first look, and since then the film has managed to generate immense hype for its release. The anticipation and hype for Animal is evident from the advance booking rate the film enjoyed a week before its release. Now, after opening on a thunderous note the business of Animal has seen an upward trend in collections, crossing the Rs. 200 cr. mark at the domestic box office within just three days of its release. Interestingly, overseas as well, Animal has taken a stellar start with audience flocking theatres.
As per reports, Animal has opened as the #1 film worldwide with an estimated opening weekend gross of a staggering USD 42.17 million [Rs. 351.38 cr.]. However, the interesting part is that Animal has managed to surpass other worldwide releases like Napoleon, which drew in USD 35.72 million and Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which collected USD 29.40 million to claim the top slot.
If that was not enough, with Animal topping the worldwide box office charts, Ranbir Kapoor becomes the only India actor to have two releases that have managed this feat. In fact, Ranbir’s previous release Brahmastra – Part One had topped the worldwide box office chart on its release, followed now by Animal that has managed to overshadow other releases.
Currently, Animal continues to hold strong, and is expected to see further growth as the week progresses. Advance trade predictions state that the business of Animal that has already crossed the Rs. 200 cr. mark at the domestic box office is sure to see further growth despite the competition.
