Overseas: Supreme disasters!

By Bollywood Hungama

The two new releases, HATTRICK and JUST MARRIED: MARRIAGE WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING, have tanked big time in the major markets.

HATTRICK has emerged a major setback in U.K. and Australia, while JUST MARRIED has proved a damp squib in U.K. It’s Fardeen Khan’s third lowest opener after PREM AGGAN and KUCH TUM KAHO KUCH HUM KAHEIN in terms of screen average.

Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor’s son Aditya Raj Kapoor makes his directorial debut with DON’T STOP DREAMING, which features Rishi Kapoor, Suniel Shetty and well-known singer Taz. The film also opened this weekend in U.K. to a shockingly low response.

Meanwhile, Mira Nair’s THE NAMESAKE, starring Tabu and Irrfan Khan, is doing phenomenally well in the U.S. After starting out on limited screens [6] in its opening weekend, Fox Searchlight increased the screens in its second weekend [41] and the film showed an approx. 188% jump. The film has already crossed $ 1 million as on this date.

Weekend: March 16 – 18, 2007.
