The film industry witnessed a similar scenario when the first week of 2013 witnessed a multitude of Hindi films vying for audience attention, but barring TABLE NO. 21, the balance releases sank without a trace. The severe cold in several parts of the country, the cricket matches, the end of the holiday period contributed their bit in keeping the moviegoers away from cineplexes. But can one blame the above-mentioned factors alone for the dismal performance of movies at the ticket window?
TABLE NO. 21 was the sole movie that stood out. The content of this thriller is its USP and the positive word of mouth helped its business grow with each passing day. Agree, the numbers are far from remarkable, but in view of the fact that it's a low cost film, the makers should be in the comfort zone in the final tally. Besides, the subsidy for films shot in Fiji should contribute to the kitty as well.

Those who prefer diverse genres, well, the year offers a buffet of interesting films with interesting stars. But the packed calendar is already making the producers/distributors nervous. With multiple films bombarding cineplexes week after week, the film/s will have to score in the week of release itself. Else, a fresh lot of movies, in the subsequent week, might extinguish the flickering flame completely.
