Ramgopal Varma's much-hyped COMPANY opened to a 100% response at several stations last week. A section of the film trade was more than confident that the film would have a dull start outside Mumbai-Maharashtra, thanks to the 'Mumbai' flavour the film carried. But the opening of COMPANY silenced its detractors.
For, the opening of COMPANY was superior at several centres than another keenly-awaited flick, AANKHEN, released a week ago. This was indeed surprising mainly because AANKHEN was much bigger in cast and canvas when compared to COMPANY.
Moreover, the songs of AANKHEN were promoted vigorously before its release. In the case of COMPANY, however, only 'Khallas' had caught on in a big way. The other numbers hadn't!
COMPANY took a flying start at several places, bringing about a sense of joy to this drought-stricken industry. A look at the mid-week box-office performance of COMPANY. Exclusively on IndiaFM.
MUMBAI CITY-SUBURBS, MAHARASHTRA, GUJARAT:
The film opened to a 100% response in Mumbai city-suburbs and till Tuesday, the collections were a solid 100%. Although the reports are mixed (a section of the audience is not too happy with the climax), the collections continue to be fabulous.
In Ahmedabad, the film opened to a decent response. However, the collections of all films continue to be affected due to disturbances and COMPANY is no exception. In Rajkot and Jamnagar, there was a slight drop from Monday.
In Pune and several stations of Maharashtra, the film is faring very well and is poised for a long run.
DELHI, UTTAR PRADESH:
Released with 35 prints in Delhi-U.P., the opening was cent percent at several theatres of Delhi. The film is maintaining very well at a number of cinema halls of the city, although the collections have dropped at a few.
The opening at several key stations of Uttar Pradesh was also decent, but the reports aren't too strong.
KOLKATA CITY-SUBURBS, BIHAR:
COMPANY took a heartening start in Kolkata city-suburbs, but a drop was noticed from Monday. Its start in Bihar was also good, but the reports are mixed.
C.P. BERAR, C.I., RAJASTHAN:
The film opened to packed houses in Nagpur and till Tuesday, the film was excellent. In Amravati, Jalgaon, Raipur, Jabalpur and Yavatmal, the collections are nice.
In Indore, the film opened to good houses, but the reports are not too strong. A drop was noticed as days progressed. The opening in Gwalior was fine as well.
In Jaipur, the opening was satisfactory, maintaining steady collections till Day 3, but the collections dropped slightly later.
The opening was excellent in Hyderabad and the film is maintaining very well at all.
