Rajinikanth starrer Jailer gets sequel titled Hukum: Report

Following the phenomenal success of Jailer in 2023, director Nelson Dilipkumar is officially moving forward with a sequel of Rajinikanth's starrer. If a report by Pinkvilla is something to go by, then the first draft of the sequel's script, tentatively titled Hukum, has been finalised and received the thumbs-up from both Rajinikanth and Sun Pictures. This news will undoubtedly excite fans who were left wanting more after the explosive ending of Jailer.

The report further revealed that Nelson is particularly invested in exploring the character of Tiger aka Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth, in greater depth.  Hukum promises a compelling continuation of the story established in the first film. While pre-production for Hukum begins in June 2024, filming will commence later this year or early 2025. This timeframe depends on the completion of Rajinikanth's current project, Thalaivar 171, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

 

Reportedly, the makers are currently considering two titles for the sequel: Hukum - a phrase strongly associated with Rajinikanth after the first film - and the more straightforward Jailer 2. While a final decision is yet to be made, sources suggest a strong leaning towards Hukum.

 

In the meantime, Rajinikanth recently shot the promotional video for Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film, expected to be announced soon. Filming for this highly anticipated project is slated to begin in May/June 2024. Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning here that, neither the actor nor the makers have officially announced the film.
