Kannappa new release date locked! UP CM Yogi Adityanath unveils the new poster of Vishnu Manchu starrer in Lucknow

The release date of Kannappa, the much-anticipated mythological epic starring Vishnu Manchu, has officially been announced. In a meeting held in Lucknow, the film’s core team met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who unveiled a poster of the film and confirmed that it will release worldwide on June 27, 2025.

The team was led by veteran actor and producer Mohan Babu, along with Vishnu Manchu, Prabhu Deva, and executive producer Vinay Maheshwari. During the meeting, CM Yogi Adityanath was also shown behind-the-scenes footage from the film, giving him insight into the scale and vision of the project, which blends devotion, mythology, and high-end cinematic production.

 

Following the interaction, CM Yogi praised the effort and underscored the cultural relevance of telling stories rooted in Indian mythology. He acknowledged the importance of showcasing such narratives to contemporary audiences, especially through mainstream cinema. The team also extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Tirupati and Mohan Babu University, where the roots of the project lie.

 

Reflecting on the meeting, Vishnu Manchu said, "Meeting Hon’ble CM Yogi Adityanath ji was a moment of immense honour for all of us. As someone who has poured a decade of my life into Kannappa, seeing him resonate with the soul of our film was incredibly moving. He understood that Kannappa isn’t just a story—it’s a cultural resurrection. The fact that he called for more such films to be made and seen affirms the spiritual and cultural power cinema can hold. His words were a reminder that our mythology, our history, our heroes must continue to find their voice on the big screen and be passed down to generations. It is a privilege to have the release date of the film - June 27, unveiled by him."

 

 

Kannappa is a retelling of the story of the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva. The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, alongside Preity Mukhundhan. It also features special appearances by prominent actors including Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Kajal Aggarwal. Produced on a grand scale, the film is expected to blend visual spectacle with deeply rooted cultural themes.

 

With its release locked for June, Kannappa aims to bring a slice of Indian mythology to the global stage.
