BO update: Elections results hit film biz hard!

 

After a cluttered Friday last week featuring six films, this week too witnessed a plethora of new films, notable among them being the Himesh - Yo Yo Honey Singh starrer THE XPOSE. However, it was the Hollywood biggie GODZILLA which fetched a strong start, leading at every centre across the country. The English version has opened better, as per early trends.

 

One of the key reasons behind the dismal performance of new releases [Hindi] can be attributed to the election results that has most people preferring to be glued to the television sets, rather than venturing out to theatres to watch the films. However, despite the low turnout during the morning/noon shows, the general consensus is that the evening and night shows should witness a good jump.

 

While THE XPOSE and GODZILLA have emerged as the only two lead competitors with good reviews, the word of mouth will play a crucial role to see who emerges as the overall leader.
