The Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (HSKD) that released last week met with strong competition in the Maharashtra circuit from the Riteish Deshmukh starrer Marathi film Lai Bhaari. However, the film has managed to hold the audience's attention and make it through the first week with rather good collections.
In this Box Office report, we look at the success of HSKD while comparing the film's collections to other releases this year. Not surprisingly, the film has fast become the Seventh Highest First Week grosser of 2014 collecting Rs. 53.31 crores. Though the film manages to surpass previous releases of this year like Ragini MMS 2, Heropanti and Varun's earlier release Main Tera Hero, it fails to surpass Alia's previous release 2 States that collected Rs. 60.73 crores.
