Who’s she? - Daughter of yesteryear’s actor Late Vinod Mehra, Soniya Mehra took her plunge in the Bollywood world with the remake of the old classic Victoria No.203. In the movie, she played a sweet, innocent girl who is forced to ride the Victoria (tonga) after her father is falsely implicated in a murder case. She was romantically paired opposite Jimmy Shergill
What they said? - Unlike some successful remakes like Devdas and Don, this one didn’t create any interest among the movie-going audiences. Although, Soniya was appreciated by a few critics for her looks. Post release, even she was quite unhappy with the way the movie turned out but by that time it was too late.
What lies ahead? - The future does seem bright for this star-daughter who is apparently receiving a lot of good offers but is yet to sign the dotted line. She admits that she doesn’t want to repeat the mistake committed by her earlier and is giving extra importance to the banner, cast, script etc. Wise girl we must say!!!

Sayali Bhagat
Who’s she? – This former Miss India World made her big screen debut opposite Serial Kisser Emraan Hashmi in The Train. She played the role of his wife in the film.
What they said? - The movie premiered at the prestigious IIFA awards but couldn’t set the box-office on fire. Sayali is best remembered for the chartbuster song ‘Woh Ajnabee’ and of course for the fact that she was one of the first actresses who got Emraan back to his kissing ways post marriage.
What lies ahead? - She will be seen in an item song in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol in January next year. She also has Aditya Dutt’s Good Luck lined up for release, which is apparently the re-launch vehicle of Aryeman.
The year 2007 is ending and it will be remembered for giving Bollywood a whole new pool of talented actors who made their debut. But while the whole country is busy talking about and analyzing the Ranbirs, the Sonams, the Deepikas and the Neils of tinsel town, IndiaFM decided to shift focus slightly and take a look at some of the lesser known actors who also made their maiden screen appearance this year. While they all came, some of us saw as few of them conquered.
Prashant Raj
Who’s he?– The Grasim Mr. India runner up (2004) turned actor made big news when he was signed to play the role played by Big B (Jai) in Sholay in RGV’s remake of the classic. He played Raj, Ajay Devgan’s partner-in-crime in RGV Ki Aag and well, carried a single expression throughout the film.
What they said? - The movie bombed so badly that hardly anyone bothered to analyze his performance in detail. He didn’t receive a lot of flak from the critics which could be due to his screen presence coupled with his brooding looks. The young actor however, needs to improve on his dialogue delivery and most importantly choice of scripts
What lies ahead? – He would next be seen in a drama titled Toss alongside Ashmit Patel, Aarti Chhabria, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sushant Singh, Rajpal Yadav etc. The film is to be directed by Ramesh Khatkar who has assisted RGV (Why again Prashant….Phew!!!) in the past
Who are they? - The hero with the chocolate boy looks and the cherubic English beauty made their debut in the candy-floss romance MP3- Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar. While Ruslaan is a product of Anupam Kher’s acting school, Hazel has earlier appeared in a string of commercials like Ponds, Sunsilk, Lays, HSBC Bank.
What they said? - The movie, a teenage love-story that spoke about puppy love, first crush etc., didn’t really have the cash registers ringing although it did have a fresh pair as its main lead. The music especially the title track was quite a hit among the youth.
What lies ahead? The Future- The future seems bright for young Ruslaan who would be seen in Satish Kaushik’s Tere Sang opposite newcomer Sheena Shahabadi. He would also be seen in mentor Anupam Kher’s next directorial venture. As for Hazel, after a mushy love story, she has decided to change genres for her next film, which is apparently a super-natural thriller.
Who’s he? – Yet another Grasim Mr. India winner (2005) who started out doing ads like the famous Pepsi Cafechino commercial with Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor until he got bitten by the Bollywood bug.
Where was he seen? He played the role of a suave, independent entrepreneur in Lovely Singh’s Kya Love Story Hai with Ayesha Takia and Tusshar Kapoor.
What they said? - The movie sank without a trace and probably the only person who benefited from the film was Kareena Kapoor who rocked with the item song ‘It’s Rocking’. Poor Karan was appreciated for his good-looks but many felt he was too stiff when it came to his acting
