Reznor reacted with shock and amazement after he and co-composer Atticus Ross won the Oscar. "Wow. Is this really happening?" Reznor asked during his acceptance speech. "When we finished work on The Social Network, we were very proud of our work and happy to just be involved in this film, and to be standing up here in this company is humbling and flattering beyond words."
Once backstage, Reznor credited Fincher's vision in getting the music just right. "A side of my music with Nine Inch Nails was going instrumental so it was not a huge leap or stretch to try this," Reznor said of his first venture into scoring a film. "The biggest challenge was working with a picture. David Fincher knew exactly what he wanted. It was one of the best experiences of my life from start to finish."
Reznor added, "Composer, Hans Zimmer, who I've been battling at awards shows all year, told me that in a lot of ways, he hoped I win because it's helped open up the field a bit for texture of what film scores can be." -

Tom quotes, "She rang me up and said, Tom, I think I found your next film." And before going backstage, he added, "The moral of the story is: Listen to your mother."
But before Tom Hooper won, the film's first award for the evening was grabbed by David Seidler for The Best Original Screenplay. Seventy year old Seidler is the oldest person to win under the screenplay category. He jokes, "I believe I am the oldest person to win this particular award. I hope that record is broken quickly and often." -

And to top up the list of the highest number of Oscar trophies this year, Tom Hooper's The King's Speech shared their joy with Chris Nolan's Inception with four golden statuettes each. Not to forget, David Fincher's The Social Network won three Oscars and David O Russell's The Fighter too came close to winning their share of accolades with two trophies. -
