Shah Rukh Khan in Veer Zara (2004)

Veer-Zaara is a romantic drama directed by Yash Chopra. Shah Rukh Khan plays Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force officer who falls in love with a Pakistani woman, Zaara Hayat Khan, played by Preity Zinta. The film explores their love story and the challenges they face due to the Indo-Pak conflict. The character of Veer, played by SRK, is compelled to leave the air force later in the film in order to be with his love Zaara.

Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty in Tango Charlie (2005)

In Mani Shankar’s Tango Charlie, Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty played air force colleagues named Squadron Leader Vikram Rathore and Flight Lieutenant Shezad Khan respectively. The film’s story commences when the two of them rescue BSF jawan Tarun Chauhan aka Tango Charlie, played by Bobby Deol. As he is in an unconscious state, they read his diary in order to know more about him. It emerges that Tarun worked closely with fellow BSF soldier Mohammad Ali (Ajay Devgn) in guarding the nation against various enemies.

R Madhavan in Rang De Basanti (2006)

This Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial saw R Madhavan play an extended cameo as an air force pilot Ajay Singh Rathod. But it was the death of his character that inspires his group of careless fiends, played by Aamir Khan, Kunal Roy Kapur, Siddharth and Sharman Joshi, along with a political activist (Atul Kulkarni), to fight against the system that wrongly held Ajay guilty for the crashing of his aircraft.

Hrithik Roshan is the latest Bollywood star to play an air force officer in filmmaker Siddharth Anand’s Fighter. He played Shamsher Pathania aka Patty in the movie. The roles of his colleagues were played by Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Oberoi and Karan Singh Grover. The film is inspired from the Pulwama attack, and it told the story of the brave air for officers who risk everything to safeguard the country.
