This week we see the release of two starkly different films viz. RUSTOM and MOHENJO DARO. While the first film is based on the true life story of the Nanavati murder case, the latter is a fictional period drama based on the Bronze Age. Interestingly, both films feature heavy weight names from the industry, with Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan top lining their cast respectively. But the question that is foremost in everyone's mind is which film will eventually take the lead.
Reports suggest that Akshay Kumar's RUSTOM has taken the lead over Hrithik Roshan's MOHENJO DARO, with the first recording approximately 45% occupancy rate during morning shows while the latter has recorded 35% occupancy rates. Apart from this, reports also suggest that though RUSTOM has received mixed reviews from the critics, the audience have taken a liking to the film. On the other hand, audience and trade persons alike have categorized MOHENJO DARO as being a rather slow paced film high on drama resulting in a drop in footfalls at theatres.
On the whole, while RUSTOM that has taken a lead over MOHENJO DARO, both films will have to rely on good word of mouth and positive feedback from the audiences to grow over the weekend.
