Akshay Kumar is on a roll! His new film WELCOME has opened to a fabulous response across the nation, garnering 90% + collections on its opening day. The reports are extremely positive and with a 5-day weekend on hand, the business should be very heartening.
The film has shattered previous records at several places and while writing this piece, the collections of a few centres were received by this writer:-
Smruti – Nagpur 1,30,848; Jaishri – Nagpur 70,036; Rajvilas – Nagpur 39,184; Raipur 1,19,432; Bhilai 1,22,229; Akola 74,036; Yavatmal 57,437; Paratwada 31,824; Balaghat 22,600; Durg 42,580.
On the other hand, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR had a slow start, expectedly. The 30% - 40% start hasn’t come as a surprise since it’s not one of those masala films, but the reports are fabulous and the business picked up during the evening shows on Friday itself. The Saturday to Tuesday [Christmas] collections will now be observed minutely.
