As compared to last week, the business showed a slight increase this Friday. One of the reasons could be that two of the three releases this week [EK - THE POWER OF ONE and AA DEKHEN ZARA] starred audience-friendly names as compared to last week releases.
As highlighted in the review, EK - THE POWER OF ONE fetched a better start at single screens, drawing 30% - 40% collections, but was poor at plexes… AA DEKHEN ZARA, which hasn't released at the national chain of plexes, had a 45% start at some stand-alone plexes, but was dull at single screens… The third release, VIDESH - HEAVEN ON EARTH, started poorly everywhere.
An interesting development is that the leaders of the industry are mobilising the entire film fraternity to come out and watch AA DEKHEN ZARA at Gaiety-Galaxy [Bandra] today [Saturday] between 12 and 12.30 noon and also urge public to come and watch films at single screens, so that "film-makers can continue bringing good cinema to the public and not be bullied in this manner."
