The Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer Vikram Vedha has seen a big spike in its business on the second Saturday. According to early estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 3.75 crores to 4.05 crores, taking the total collections in the vicinity of Rs. 65 crores. The film has seen big gains in the national multiplex chains on Saturday and it is fairing like a proper multiplex film.
There will be another spike in the business on Sunday, which should take 10 day total to Rs. 70 crores. Vikram Vedha will be headed at a final finish of around Rs. 85 to 90 crore, which though bigger than most releases this year, is a low result for a Hrithik Roshan Film.
The film is a failure, and it has got a lot to do with the low opening, which nearly sealed its fate. The trend post the opening day has been that of an accepted film, with decent holds on weekdays and big jumps on weekends, but the starting point was so low that the film was never poised to go anywhere else from thereon.
The lifetime business might fall short of Rs. 100 crore, and the three-digit mark might have been a face-saving result for this Pushkar and Gayatri directorial. Thankfully, due to the big nontheatrical deals, the producers will break even, but that's not saying much as the contribution from the theatrical medium will be less than 40 percent of the total revenues.
