Kamal Haasan is among the biggest movie stars of Indian Cinema, as he has not just delivered some memorable films but also created several box office records in his career spanning over 50 years. The 67 year old actor has done the unthinkable with his recent release, Vikram. The movie has crossed Rs. 110 crores in 8 day run in Tamil Nadu and has emerged as the 8th Tamil Film to go past the Rs. 100 crore club.
The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is headed to defeat the 5 year old record of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in the state of Tamil Nadu. Within a week, the film will dethrone the EPIC Baahubali 2 from the top spot to emerge an All Time grosser in the domestic market. At present, Baahubali 2 stands tall with a lifetime collection of Rs. 155 crores in Tamil Nadu, followed by Bigil at Rs. 141 crores.
With Saturday and Sunday, Vikram will zoom closer to the Rs. 130 crore mark to emerge the fourth highest grossing film of all time in Tamil Nadu, and hopefully by Wednesday, it should attain the second spot (After BB 2) to become the highest grossing Tamil film of all time in the state by defeating the collections of Bigil. From thereon, the journey to defeat Baahubali 2 will start, and given the audience reception and box office trend, we anticipate the film to become an all time grosser by the third weekend.
This is a record which will stand tall in Tamil Nadu for years to come. It took 5 years and a good Kamal Haasan film to break this record, and it now remains to be seen as to which of the top stars from the state make an attempt to challenge Vikram in the time to come.
