The Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun: Maverick released a while back to a rather low key start at the Indian box office. Being a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, expectations were that the film will face a tough time at the box office. However, despite a slow start the business of the film saw good growth as the days progressed.
Now on its second week running Top Gun: Maverick has seen a further Rs. 7 cr coming in. with this the total collections of the film now stands at Rs .24.7 cr. This rather low key collections as compared to other big ticket Hollywood releases is being attributed to the lacklustre promotions the film featured, and the general audience disconnect from the original film. Another factor that greatly affected the business of Top Gun: Maverick was the other Bollywood releases that have been doing brisk business.
As of now, Top Gun: Maverick continues to run in selected location in limited shows, but is not really expected to see much growth in its overall collections.
