The Punit Malhotra directed film Student of the Year 2 released last week on Friday. Starring Ananya Panday, Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria the film opening on a good note, but began to see a decline in collections post its opening weekend.

Interestingly, the business of Student of the Year 2, despite the promotions and the wide release across 3000+ screens does not manage to surpass the collections of certain other films. In fact, films like Kesari that collected Rs. 105.86 cr, Gully Boy that collected Rs. 100.3 cr, Total Dhamaal that collected Rs. 94.55 cr, Kalank that collected Rs. 73.7 cr, Uri – The Surgical Strike that collected Rs. 70.94 cr and Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi that had collected Rs. 58.95 cr feature higher on the list of highest opening week grossers of 2019 as compared to Student of the Year 2.
As of now, with the Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu starrer De De Pyaar De hitting screens, Student of the Year 2 faces a daunting task ahead. Predictions currently state that while the new release will flourish at the box office, Student of the Year 2 just about manages to feature a few shows.
