The Rohit Shetty directed film Sooryavanshi released a while back to a thunderous response from the critics and audience alike. Starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles with special appearances by Ranveer Singh and Aja Devgn the film took off to a flying start and continued to see immense growth in business as the days progressed. Being the first big ticket release post the second lockdown all eyes were on the business of Sooryavanshi.
In this box office report we take a look at the fourth week collections of Sooryavanshi while comparing them to previous releases. Collecting Rs. 6.43 cr. in its fourth week, Sooryavanshi manages to become the 21st all-time highest Week 4 grosser. Interestingly, the film which faced restrictions in occupancy due to the Covid-19 protocols still managed to fare better than the previously released Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba that had collected Rs. 6.18 cr. and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express that had collected Rs. 6.01 cr. over their fourth week respectively.
Though Sooryavanshi is still a long way off from surpassing the fourth week collections of certain other releases, the film still continues to run in theatres, despite new releases hitting screens. In fact, going by recent trend it is more than likely that the total collections of Sooryavanshi that are currently pegged at Rs. 191.35 cr. will near the Rs. 200 cr. mark at the India box office.
