The Yash Raj Films production Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor was released today. After immense promotion and hype, the film hit a massive 4,350 screens across the domestic market. Reports coming in suggest that the film has in fact opened on a decent note. The occupancy rate over the morning and early afternoon shows is being pegged at 15%. This rather low-key occupancy is being attributed to the fact that Shamshera sees a wide release across 4,350 screens in the domestic market. However, despite this, thanks to the release pattern and immense promotions the business of the film is sure to see good collections. In fact, advance booking for Shamshera has also recorded have been fair, though the mass-dominated belt is yet to see an increase in bookings, multiplex-dominated metro cities have registered a decent rate of advance bookings.
Going forward, Shamshera which has seen advance bookings below expectations needs the support of strong walk-ins. However, the final verdict will come with the evening and night shows, which are likely to see an increase in footfalls. As per the current trend, trade predictions state that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer will open to double digits on Day 1. In fact, the business of Shamshera could see approximately Rs. 12-13 cr. coming in on Day 1.
