Akshay Kumar's period drama, Samrat Prithviraj has continued with its downward trend at the box office. With a major drop in collection on its second Friday, the movie has consolidated its disaster verdict at the box office. According to early estimates, Samrat Prithviraj has collected in the range Rs. 1.85 to 2 crores on day 8 to take the total collection to Rs. 57 crores.
The movie has been on a downward trend since Monday and it is now headed towards a lifetime collection under the Rs. 65 crore mark. Samrat Prithviraj will be among the rare YRF films that will lose money for the banner, as the film has been mounted on a budget of Rs. 200 crores with minimal returns from theatrical. The mass belts have fared relatively better than the metros, but the collections are negligible. UP, Bihar and Rajasthan have fared the best for this YRF film, but Mumbai and South markets are dismissal. For Akshay Kumar, this is the third major flop/disaster in a span of 10 months, and all eyes are now on Raksha Bandhan to bring him back to the winning streak at the box office like the pre pandemic days.
There is also a heavy drop in showcasing of Samrat Prithviraj on the 2nd Friday and this is another reason for the fall in collections.
