Akshay Kumar returns to the big screen again with his costliest film till date, Samrat Prithviraj on June 3. It's produced by Yash Raj Films and is a biography of India's last Hindu Samrat. Being a big scale historical event, the production house opened the advances for the film from Sunday but it hasn't really been an encouraging trend at the ticket windows.
According to the data received by Bollywood Hungama, Samrat Prithviraj has sold around 10,000 tickets at PVR, Inox and Cinepolis on Wednesday morning. This is around 1/3 of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which had sold approx, 30,000 tickets at the same properties on Wednesday morning. There is negligible advance outside the three national chains as of Wednesday. The advance is also lower than RRR, which has sold around 27,000 tickets in the national chains as of Wednesday morning.
Akshay has been going aggressive on the promotional front with multiple screenings expected to be held for influential personalities on Wednesday and Thursday, we anticipate a certain bump in advance booking by Thursday end.
If we talk of all India advance, the nett collections of Samrat Prithviraj as of Wednesday morning is under a crore, and as mentioned above, a major boost in booking is needed on Wednesday and Thursday to have some respectable total. As of now, the urgency and curiosity is missing in the audience to experience the film.
