RRR Box Office: SS Rajamouli’s film enters Rs. 200 Crore Club, is only the second dubbed film after his Baahubali: The Conclusion to achieve this feat

By Joginder Tuteja

What a run SS Rajamouli has been having in the Indian film industry and that too for almost a couple of decades now. He is setting his own records and then beating them himself. First his Baahubali - The Beginning (Hindi) turned out to be the first dubbed film to score a century at the box office. Then Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion (Hindi) went past the Rs. 500 crores mark, a feat for which a new phrase has not yet been invented. Now his RRR (Hindi) has scored a double century as well, a feat, which is unparalleled.

It is sheer conviction that has made his films as successful as they have turned out to be and that too in a truly pan-India scale. To think of it, the only three of the major successes from South in their dubbed version are 2.0, Saaho and Pushpa. 2.0 had a sequel advantage and then Akshay Kumar was the antagonist in the Rajinikanth starrer. Saaho came after the success of Baahubali series and then Prabhas had Shraddha Kapoor for company, hence resulting in a major Bollywood connection. As for Pushpa, one has to credit it for being a true blue south movie presented in a quintessential south style and still emerging as a blockbuster, and in the process bringing Allu Arjun on the Bollywood map.

Now the same has happened for NTR Jr. and Ram Charan as well who are a household name with RRR being a mega success in Hindi. Yes, they too had an advantage of Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in the cast that made the film gain a pan-India appeal. However after the opening, it’s the film which is speaking for itself and now one waits to see that how far does it go from here post the Rs. 230-240 crores range, which is there for the taking.
