The Salman Khan starrer Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai released worldwide on Eid 2021, on May 13. While it had a proper theatrical release in many countries overseas, in India it was released on the big screen only in 3 cinemas, that too in the state of Tripura. From May 21 to June 10, it was out of cinemas. Then from June 11 to June 27, it was released in two cinemas in Maharashtra, in Malegaon and Aurangabad. From June 27, it got a release in the state of Gujarat in 3 cinema halls - The Friday Cinema multiplex and Rupam Cinema in Surat, and Amber Cinema in Jamnagar. The collections were not great but industry and trade was surprised to see that a certain number of viewers turned up daily to watch the film. In 5 weeks, it managed to collect Rs. 1,81,389.
The 5th week collections had made it clear that the earnings are rapidly dropping. As a result, Rupam Cinema discontinued the screening from Friday, July 9. Meanwhile, The Friday Cinema multiplex decided to run only 2 shows while Amber Cinema decided to play just 1 show of Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai daily. With just 3 shows of the film running in a day, the collections were, hence, poor. Not to forget, the film has been out on digital since May 13 and the word of mouth was not encouraging either.
A trade expert told Bollywood Hungama, “Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai collected around Rs. 1,258 on Friday, Rs. 1,374 on Saturday and Rs. 929 on Sunday. These are approximate figures.” The collections of Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai now stand at Rs. 1,84,950.
An industry insider says, “The collections of Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai could still be as good as previous weeks, provided it releases in states like Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. These are the states where cinemas have been allowed to restart. But the cinema hall owners in these regions don’t want to reopen just for one film. If Bellbottom’s release gets confirmed, the exhibitors can play Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai a week earlier.”
With such collections, it now remains to be seen whether The Friday Cinema and Amber cinema’s management decides to continue playing the film from Friday, July 16, and also whether the film eventually manages to hit the Rs. 2 lakh mark.
