The Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 has been making headlines for the past week. After a massive press event, hype around the pan-India film was at an all-time high. But the question remained whether the Hollywood release, Spider-Man: No Way Home which released a day earlier would eat into the overall business of Pushpa.
As per reports, Pushpa is doing great guns down south. However even in rest of the country it is doing more than expected business with Rs. 3 crores coming in from the Hindi version. It was predicted in this column that around Rs. 2 crores would be the best case scenario for the Allu Arjun starrer on the first day, given the lack of awareness as well as the competition from the Hollywood biggie. However the film has done better and that should help in the rustic entertainer emerging as a decent earner at least in the final run.
Given its current collections, trade buzz state that the business of the film will see an increase over its opening weekend. Interestingly, despite the competition from the major Hollywood release, Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 has managed to hold its own at the box office.
