The Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham starrer Pathaan, which was released last week on January 25, has proved to be unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a thunderous note, the Siddharth Anand directorial witnessed unprecedented response from the audience and saw its collections grow exponentially. In fact, Pathaan has managed to register Rs. 50+ cr collections on four out of the five days. Now, at the close of its opening weekend, Pathaan has managed to draw in a staggering Rs. 271 cr from its Hindi version alone.
In this box office report, we look at the opening weekend collections of Pathaan while comparing the same to previous releases. Not surprisingly, Pathaan, which was released across 5500 screens in the domestic market, has emerged as the all-time highest opening weekend grosser. In fact, the film has managed to outperform previous releases like KGF – Chapter 2, which collected Rs. 193.99 cr, Sultan, which collected Rs. 180.36 cr, War, which collected Rs. 166.25 cr, and Bharat, which collected Rs. 150.10 cr amongst others. This unbelievable collection is being attributed to the wide release pattern, the hype surrounding the film, and of course to Shah Rukh Khan’s immense fan following.
Pathaan, which has refused to slow down on its first Monday, continues to draw in the audience. Going by the current trends, trade predictions state that Pathaan is sure to see its collections remain more or less stable over its first week running. In fact, it will come as no surprise if the business of the film manages to touch the Rs. 400 cr mark by the end of its first week.
