The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan was released on January 25 with a resounding response from the audience and critics alike. After garnering rave reviews the film, directed by Siddharth Anand, established new collection records on its opening day. In fact, Pathaan, which was released across 5500 screens in the domestic market raked in a staggering Rs. 57 crores (Hindi Rs. 55 crores + Tamil & Telugu Rs. 2 crores) on its opening day alone. Following this, with January 26, being a national holiday on account of Republic Day, the collections of the film saw a meteoric increase.
Collecting a whopping Rs. 68 crores on its second day running, Pathaan has now managed to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark within just two days of its release. With this, the film now stands as Shah Rukh Khan’s eighth release to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark at the box office. If that wasn’t enough, collecting Rs. 123 crores in just two days of its release, Pathaan has now also become Shah Rukh Khan’s fastest film to enter the prestigious Rs. 100 crores club.
As of now, Pathaan continues to dominate the box office window in both the domestic and international markets. Going by the current trend trade predictions state that the business of the film will see further growth over its first Saturday and Sunday eventually crossing the Rs. 200 crores mark by the end of its five-day extended weekend.
