The much talked about and keenly awaited film Pathaan finally hit screens yesterday. Directed by Siddharth Anand the film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Paduke and John Abraham, has been seeing an immense rate of advance bookings. In fact, the audience demand for the film has been so high that the makers have added nearly 300 shows, and even commenced mid-night screenings of the film.
In this box office report, we look at the opening day collections of Pathaan while comparing the same to Deepika Padukone’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 57 cr on Day 1(Hindi – Rs. 55 cr + Tamil & Telugu Rs. 2 cr), Pathaan has emerged as the actor’s all-time highest opening day grosser. In fact, Pathaan has surpassed the collections of Deepika’s previous releases like Happy New Year, which collected Rs. 44.97 cr, Chennai Express that collected Rs. 33.12 cr, Padmaavat which collected Rs. 24 cr, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which collected Rs. 19.45 cr, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela which collected Rs. 16 cr.
Currently Pathaan, which has enthralled the audiences, continues to run to packed houses across the country. In fact, with the 5500 wide screen count and the fact that January 26 is a national holiday trade estimates claim that the business of Pathaan will see further growth. Going by these advance estimates the business of Pathaan could easily cross the Rs. 100 cr mark by the end of its second day running.
