With very good response coming its way on Friday due to National Cinema Day and renewed interest generated amongst the audiences to catch it in theatres, Mission Raniganj aimed to makes the most of the momentum by introducing BOGO [Buy One Get One] offer at select multiplexes and ticketing platform. The offer was only on Saturday and Sunday, and one waits to see if it gets extended for the rest of its run as well.
The Akshay Kumar starrer managed to bring in around Rs. 4.50 crores* more during last couple of days. It was obviously hit by the big ODI match between India and Pakistan, as a result of which the shows were impacted right from afternoon itself. Hence, even though there was this BOGO offer, it wasn't utilized to the optimum since a large chunk of Indian junta was watching the match. However, on Sunday the collections were better.
That said, the film certainly deserves better and should have actually been firing away after positive word of mouth came in after the first day itself. When that didn't quite happen in the first week, then it was all about gathering as much good numbers that could come in the second week, so that the lifetime total manages to go past the Rs. 35 crores mark at least. So far, the Akshay Kumar starrer has reached Rs. 27.50 crores* and while Rs. 30 crores milestone would be crossed this week, it has to be seen where does the film land up eventually.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
