Rani Mukerji-led Mardaani 3 is shaping up as a clean success story at the box office. The Yash Raj Films-backed cop action-thriller has shown encouraging momentum over its opening weekend, and more importantly, a steady hold as weekdays kick in - a strong sign of audience acceptance for a hard-hitting, message-driven film.

The film is directed by Abhiraj Minawala and is mounted on a controlled budget of Rs. 50 crores. Importantly, Mardaani 3 had already recovered Rs. 35 crores from the sale of satellite, digital and music rights, ensuring the theatrical run only strengthens profitability from here.
With 4 days of theatrical run, the film has collected a share of Rs. 10 crores from India and another Rs. 5 crore from international markets. With this, producer Aditya Chopra has essentially reached the break-even point, and the days ahead are expected to translate into clear profits, especially if the film maintains these holds and converts well into the coming weekend.
Trade expectations now peg the all-India theatrical business of Mardaani 3 at around Rs. 40 crores, while the film could clock about $1.5 million overseas. On current indicators, the project is looking at a minimum profit of Rs. 10 crores, consolidating a hat-trick of success for the franchise and delivering an estimated ROI of around 30%.
For a female-led film backed by credible content and a smart cost structure, this is a very decent result in the post-COVID theatrical environment and it keeps the excitement alive for Mardaani 4.
