It was a fair weekend for Mardaani 3 as Rs. 17.25 crores came in. That’s an average of under Rs. 6 crores per day for a film that started at Rs. 4 crores and while there is some growth that has been seen on a day-on-day basis, bigger momentum - especially on Saturday - would have actually resulted into a weekend that was in the vicinity of Rs. 20 crores, which would have been a much better bet.

The weekend collections are actually closer to that of Mardaani 2 (Rs. 18.15 crores) than Mardaani (Rs. 14.46 crores) though it has to be seen where does the lifetime lands. Mardaani had collected Rs. 35.82 crores while Mardaani 2 had brought in Rs. 47.57 crores, and had just missed hitting a 50. Now with Mardaani 3 being third in the franchise, bare minimum expectation from the film was Rs. 50 crores and ideally somewhere close to Rs. 60 crores.
Of course, that’s from theatrical box office standpoint because if one talks about the overall economics then film is going to add on well to its profits since OTT and satellite will get it a much bigger haul than the last two instalments and that will even down things. However, there is certain charm to theatrical business and one now waits to see how the Rani Mukerji starrer performs during the weekdays.
