The Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 was released last week. Enjoying a massive screen count, immense hype and of course an extended four-day weekend the business of the film has seen its collections soar. After opening on a thunderous note, the collections of KGF 2 fast crossed the Rs. 200 cr mark within 5 days of its release. However, the first Monday collections of the film saw a drop of nearly 50% from its first Sunday collections. Now on its first Tuesday, Day 6, KGF – Chapter 2 has seen another Rs. 19.14 cr coming in. With this the total collections of the film are pegged at Rs. 238.70 cr.
In this box office report, we look at the first Tuesday collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous releases of 2022. Collecting Rs. 19.14 cr, KGF – Chapter 2 has surpassed the recently released Vivek Agnihotri directorial The Kashmir Files which had collected Rs. 18 cr to become the highest first Tuesday grosser of 2022. Besides this, KGF 2 has done better than other releases as well like, RRR which collected Rs. 15.02 cr, Gangubai Kathiawadi which collected Rs. 10.01 cr, Bachchhan Paandey which collected Rs. 3.24 cr, and Badhaai Do which had collected Rs. 1.12 cr.
While KGF – Chapter 2 has fast emerged as the biggest money-spinner of 2022, when compared to all-time releases, the Yash starrer ranks as the 14th all-time highest first Tuesday grosser. Though it does not surpasses releases like PK, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, Dhoom 3, and others, the business of KGF 2 has outperformed certain other big-ticket releases like Airlift, Kabir Singh, and Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior.
Going forward, KGF – Chapter 2 is expected to continue its box office journey facing little to no competition. However, with the Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey slated to release later this week, the Yash starrer could see its business taking a hit. Despite this, trade predictions remain highly optimistic stating that the overall business of KGF 2 could easily go past the Rs. 300 cr mark by the end of its second weekend.
