Finally, Jersey releases this Friday. The film has seen a lot en route to its eventual arrival. Earlier it was supposed to arrive on December 31, and the promotion had started peaking as well before the third wave struck, hence resulting in the closure of cinemas. Then the makers again revived the film for release last week and just when some kind of momentum had started picking up, KGF - Chapter 2 took over the country in a big way and it was a very good decision taken to push the Shahid Kapoor starrer by a Friday.
Now that the film is arriving, it has been assured of a good count of screens and shows for itself, which puts it in a much more comfortable space when compared to the last week. That said, considering the fact that Shahid Kapoor is bringing a film of his almost three years after delivering an all-time blockbuster Jersey, it deserved an even bigger showcasing for itself. It would still be KGF - Chapter 2 (Hindi) which will have a much bigger share of screens and moreover there is momentum with it, which means it will still comfortably have double the collections of Jersey at least on Friday, and then perhaps an even bigger pie on rest of the weekend.
However, Jersey is a kind of film, which should do well on the basis of word of mouth. It should start around Rs. 6 crores range and post that the content will end up doing the talking.
