The much talked about and keenly anticipated release KGF – Chapter 2 was released a couple of days ago. Starring Yash the Prashanth Neel directorial opened on a thunderous note with the audience flocking theatres. In fact, the KGF 2 craze prompted theatre owners to add more shows some starting as early as 6 AM along with special shows post-midnight. Despite the addition of more shows, and of course, a wide screen count of over 10000 certain locations reported overbooked screens with the audience watching the film standing. After collecting a staggering Rs. 53.95 cr. on its opening day, the business of KGF – Chapter 2 witnessed a further Rs. 46.79 cr. coming in on Day 2.
With the overall collections of KGF 2 going past the Rs. 100 cr mark, collecting Rs. 100.74 cr. by the end of its second day, the film has established a new record of sorts. In fact, KGF 2 has now become the first and the fastest film to cross the Rs. 100 cr. mark in just 2 days of its release. With this feature, KGF 2 has managed to out beat previous releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, Sanju, and the Salman Khan starrers Tiger Zinda Hai and Bajrangi Bhaijaan amongst others that achieved this feat in three days of their release.
Currently, KGF – Chapter 2 enjoys an extended four-day weekend on account of Ambedkar Jayanti, and Easter is expected to continue its box office run. As per trade predictions, the business of the film will see further growth on Saturday and Sunday with collections nearing the Rs. 200 cr. mark. Going by predictions based on advance bookings KGF – Chapter 2 could easily cross the Rs. 200 cr. mark by the end of its opening weekend.
