Filmmaker Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story has been taking the box office by storm, right from its opening day when it earned Rs. 8.03 crores. This was just a start to a winning journey for the Adah Sharma starrer. Currently, the film has made a remarkable Rs. 136 crores till its second weekend. While doing this, it has gone past the lifetime collections of some prominent and successful female-centric films like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Raazi, which had finished on Rs. 129.10 crores and Rs. 124 crores respectively.
But that’s not all. The Kerala Story has also achieved another feat in its victorious journey. It has now entered the list of the all-time highest 2nd Sunday grossers at number 7 with Rs. 23.75 crores, which it scored yesterday.
This is no mean feat as the Vipul Shah production has put behind some blockbuster movies behind, which include the Hindi version of the Kannada movie KGF: Chapter 2 which collected Rs. 22.68 crores, Tiger Zinda Hai which collected Rs. 22.23 crores, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior which collected Rs. 22.12 croes, PK which collected Rs. 21.85 crores, Hindi version of RRR which collected Rs. 20.50 crores, Padmaavat which collected Rs. 20 crores, Kabir Singh which collected Rs. 17.84 crores and Simmba which collected Rs. 17.49 crores.
The Kerala Story, however, couldn’t go past a few other blockbusters as far as the 2nd Sunday numbers are concerned. These include, Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion which collected Rs. 34.5 crores, Dangal which collected Rs 32.04 crores, Pathaan which collected Rs. 28.50 crores, Sanju which collected Rs 28.05 crores, The Kashmir Files which collected Rs. 26.20 crores and Bajrangi Bhaijaan which collected Rs. 24.05 crores.
What’s even more special is that the box office journey of The Kerala Story is far from over. The film isn’t showing signs of slowing down and is set to earn well in the coming days or even weeks.
Apart from Adah Sharma, The Kerala Story also stars Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani.
