The Vivek Agnihotri directed film The Kashmir Files, which released earlier this year, has steadily been adding to its overall collections. Despite new releases hitting screens, the film has managed to run in select locations. In fact, The Kashmir Files, which started on a slow note, witnessed exponential growth in collections with each passing week. Now, weeks after its release The Kashmir Files has managed to collect 252.90 cr.
In this report, we look at the collections of The Kashmir Files, while trying to analyse its Weekend to Lifetime Multiple based on Aamir Khan’s formulae. As per Aamir Khan, “To measure a film’s success, you need to see the weekend figures and compare it with the total collection. Like 3 Idiots did Rs. 40 crores on the weekend and the total business was Rs. 202 crores, so the weekend multiplied by 5, is the behaviour of the film which is very good. That shows people have gone again and again to see the film. Jo film teen din mein 100 crore karein aur total mein 200 crore karein, then that film is not good.”
Not surprisingly, The Kashmir Files, which has recorded a Weekend to Lifetime Multiple of 9.31, claims the number one spot. In fact, the film overshadows previous releases like Pushpa – The Rise that recorded 8.54, Uri – The Surgical Strike, which recorded 6.87, and even big ticket blockbusters like Baahubali – The Beginning which recorded 5.31 and 3 Idiots that recorded 4.99. Besides this, when compared to previous releases of 2022, The Kashmir Files comes out leagues ahead of Gangubai Kathiawadi that recorded 3.30 and RRR that recorded 3.46 as a Weekend to Lifetime multiple.
Going forward, The Kashmir Files still runs in select locations with a few shows each day. Given this and the fact that the overall business of the film will see a slight increase, it is expected that the final Weekend to Lifetime Multiple of the Vivek Agnihotri directorial will go even higher.
