The Vivek Agnihotri-directed film The Kashmir Files is unstoppable! Since its release last week on Friday, there has been no stopping it at the box office, with collections showing an increase on a daily basis. After a modest opening of Rs. 3.55 cr, the business of The Kashmir Files has seen exponential growth with each passing day being bigger than the previous. Now on Day 6, the film has managed to see a further increase in collections with Rs. 19.05 cr coming in on its first Wednesday.
Interestingly, The Kashmir Files which was initially released across just 650 screens has seen an increase in screens and shows to accommodate the audience demand. In fact, certain locations have also featured shows starting as early as 6.30 AM. When compared to previous releases, The Kashmir Files has managed to outperform some big-ticket releases like the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju collected Rs. 18.90 cr, the Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish 3 that collected Rs. 18.11 cr, the Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 18.02 cr and Tiger Zinda Hai that collected Rs. 17.55 cr. With this, The Kashmir Files now ranks as the 7th all-time highest first Wednesday grosser. However, the business of The Kashmir Files does not surpass previous releases like Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion that collected Rs. 26 cr, Dhoom 3 that collected Rs. 25.52 cr, Good Newwz that collected Rs. 22.50 cr, Kick that collected Rs. 21.66 cr, the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal that collected Rs. 21.46 cr, and PK that had collected Rs. 19.55 cr.
Currently, with the festive weekend of Holi drawing closer, the business of The Kashmir Files is expected to see even further growth. At the given rate, trade predictions state that the business of the Anupam Kher starrer will near the Rs. 100 cr mark by the end of its first week, with collections going past the Rs. 120 cr mark by the end of its second weekend running.
