The Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri released a week ago, and since then the film has been unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a modest note of Rs. 3.55 cr, the collections of the film saw exponential growth with each passing day. Now at the end of its first week the film has managed to collect Rs. 97.30 cr at the box office.
Not surprisingly, the film, which received immense reactions from critics and audience alike, has been raking in the moolah. When compared to some of the previous releases, The Kashmir Files ranks as the 45th all-time highest opening week grosser. In fact, the first week business of the film has managed to surpass the collections of certain previous releases like Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet – Ek Prem Katha that collected Rs. 96.05 cr, Total Dhamaal that collected Rs. 94.55 cr, M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story that collected Rs. 94.31 cr and even the Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho that had collected Rs. 88.78 cr. Though still a long way off from topping the list of highest opening week grossers, The Kashmir Files has stunned trade and industry experts with its box office performance.
Going forward, with the festive weekend of Holi around the corner, expectations are that the business of the film will see further growth. In fact, advance predictions claim that The Kashmir Files that has seen an increase in the total number of screens and shows will see its collections soar, with a high likelihood of crossing the Rs. 120 cr mark by the end of its second weekend.
