In a remarkable turn of events, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan which hit screens earlier this month brought together an impressive blend of high-octane action sequences, compelling storytelling, and stellar performances. Directed by Atlee, the film resonated with audiences not only in India but across the world. Now, in what can easily be said to be one of the most thrilling chases, the collections of Jawan have managed to surpass the business of the much-anticipated release Gadar 2 at the global box office.
Collecting a staggering Rs. 695.67 cr at the global box office, Jawan which also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi saw Rs. 465.87 cr gross coming in within the domestic market and a further Rs. 229.8 cr gross from the overseas territories. With this, the business of Jawan has managed to surpass the Sunny Deol – Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 which had collected Rs. 679.69 cr gross at the worldwide box office, to emerge as the second highest worldwide grosser of 2023. Interestingly, the collections of Jawan rank second only to the previous Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan, that hit screens earlier this year. While the Siddharth Anand directorial saw Rs. 1050.3 cr coming in at the global box office, Jawan which is still running to packed theatres in both the domestic and international markets looks set to bridge the gap.
Currently, Jawan which has received highly positive reviews from both the audience and critics alike, continues to rake in the moolah in fact, trade estimates state that the business of the film could see further growth with each passing weekend. In fact, optimistic reports state that the business of Jawan is on course to surpass the collections of Pathaan.
