Nepotism, negativity, no-show - So much was being said and heard about Gangubai Kathiawadi prior to its release. Today, if Gangubai Kathiawadi is working well, it is due to two reasons, content by Sanjay LeeLa Bhansali and performance by Alia Bhatt. Add to that the conviction showed by Jayantilal Gada to distribute the film is an efficient way across the country despite occupancy and night curfew related restrictions, and the stage was set for it to perform.
None of that would have worked though had audiences not lapped up the film. However they did and all the other factors related to production, distribution and release paid off.
No wonder, the film stays on to be the first choice of audiences across the country, what with Rs. 8.20 crores more coming on Saturday. As a result, the overall collections now stand at Rs. 82.14 crores and a big Sunday is still round the corner. Once it hits the Rs. 90 crores mark, it should just be a matter of time before the century comes calling.
This one is a winner for Bollywood.
