The Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi has been on a roll since its release last week. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali the business of the film has been witnessing immense growth since its release, with weekday collections remaining stable thanks to the positive reviews and good word of mouth. Now at the end of its first week in theatres Gangubai Kathiawadi has managed to draw in Rs. 68.93 cr.
In this box office report we take a look at the opening week collections of Gangubai Kathiawadi while comparing the same to previous Bollywood releases in 2022. Given the fact that the year has just begun, there aren’t many releases, but despite that GangubaiKathiawadi manages to become the highest opening week grosser of 2022 surpassing the business of the previous release Badhaai Do that collected Rs. 8.10 cr.
Currently running in theatres with little competition expected from the new release Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund, the business of Gangubai Kathiawadi is expected to see immense growth over its second weekend in theatres. In fact, with theatre business returning to normalcy with 100% occupancy, trade predictions state that the business of Gangubai Kathiawadi will close the gap to the Rs. 100 cr mark if not cross it in the coming days.
