After collecting Rs. 23.54 crores in its opening weekend, Ek Villain Returns has collected in the range of Rs. 2.90 to Rs 3.10 crore on Monday. With this, the four day total of this John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor starrer stands in the vicinity of Rs. 26.50 crores. The film has come down by nearly 55 percent on Monday as compared to the opening day.
The film has come down in the multiplexes on Monday, however, the mass belts have held better in terms of numbers. With this Monday, Ek Villain Returns will be looking at a week one total of Rs. 35 crores and this should put it in the race of getting close to the half century mark in the long run. The biggest benefit for Ek Villain Returns is the open week that it has until the release of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan on August 11.
The movie will also reap the benefit of Moharram on its second Monday, which should escalate the collections by a crore or two. The audience report of Ek Villain Returns isn't as bad as the reviews suggested initially and now it remains to be seen if this Mohit Suri film can sustain at low levels from hereon and hit the half century by end of its run. At the mass belt, it's only competition will be Liger on August 25, and until then, it's going to be more or less an open run.
A slightly better hold in the range of Rs. 3.25 crore would have laid a better platform for the film to perform on the weekdays.
