Brahmastra is a hit at the box office. The film needed to hold well on the second Friday for that to happen and it has managed to do that, what with Rs. 10.30 crores coming in. There was no competition whatsoever for the Ayan Mukherji directed biggie since other new releases saw a restricted release, and the best of the screens and shows were still reserved for it. Moreover, audience interest in the film has as it is stayed alive and though there was a regular drop in collections (on expected lines) during the week, jump in numbers on Friday means that it has been accepted well.
The film is primarily been driven by premium screenings at IMAX and 3D where the ticket prices are also the most expensive. While ‘A’ centres are expectedly contributing the list, at certain ‘B’ centres too there are good footfalls, and that has turned out to be good enough for Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy to score here. For the last so many months all that Bollywood was looking for was for some category of centres to rise up to a film and with Brahmastra that has finally happened.
The film has now collected Rs. 180.50 crores and while Rs. 200 crores mark would be crossed quite comfortably, the pace at which it moves towards the Rs. 250 crores total should be pretty exciting. As of now, Rs. 240 crores is a given for the film and it would be the last mile run towards Rs. 250 crores mark which would keep all associated with the Karan Johar production on their toes.
