Back in 2020, Varun Dhawan's last theatrical release Street Dancer 3D had arrived in January. It had ended up doing a theatrical business of Rs. 75 crores. Later that year his Coolie No. 1 premiered straight on OTT though 2021 was barren with no new release. Well, now that his JugJugg Jeeyo is playing in theatres, it has managed to surpass the total of Street Dancer 3D and that too in just 16 days.
The film currently stands at Rs. 76.43 crores and its next set of targets are Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya [Rs. 78 crores], Sui Dhaaga - Made In India lifetime [Rs. 79.10 crores] and Kalank [Rs. 81 crores]. Rest assured, each of these films would be rather comfortably surpassed by the JugJugg Jeeyo, which means the film will emerge as Varun Dhawan's fifth highest grosser after Dilwale [Rs. 148 crores], Judwaa 2 [Rs. 138.61 crores], Badrinath Ki Dulhania [Rs. 116.60 crores] and ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2 [Rs. 107 crores].
On the other hand Hollywood release Thor: Love and Thunder has been doing exceedingly well as it has surpassed the entire first week total of Thor: Ragnarok [Rs. 40.37 crores] in just 3 days. The film is continuing to collect huge and brought in Rs. 17.50 crores* on Saturday, which is excellent. As a result, the film has managed to accumulate Rs. 48.10 crores* and there is a lot more to come before the first weekend comes to a close. In fact the film has come quite close to its first day total of Rs. 18.60 crores which was quite impressive. With collections set to go past Rs. 20 crores today, the superhero film could well emerge as a superhit in the long run.
