Box Office: Uunchai has an excellent hold on Monday, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever registers good numbers

By Joginder Tuteja

With the kind of trending that was seen over the weekend, there were good hopes built that finally there is a film which has in it to actually grow over the low numbers basis the word of mouth. Yes, there have been event films which have done quite well over the weekend and then also held on well during the weekdays. However when it comes to non-event films, the trend has been sorely missed right through 2022. Moreover, for Uunchai it was also required that Monday collections are actually quite close to Friday, if not more than that, since it’s not a budget film and has a good cost associated with it.

Box Office: Uunchai has an excellent hold on Monday, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever registers good numbers

Thankfully for the film though, audience word of mouth is good and that ensured Monday collections to be Rs. 1.88 crores*. Now if one compares to Friday numbers of Rs. 1.81 crores, this is an excellent hold as films have traditionally dropped by 25%-30% even when appreciated and generally have fallen by over 50% on Mondays. Here, the film has actually gone up. Hence, numbers like these are heartening and make one hopeful about a potential success in the making. So far, the Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani film has collected Rs. 12.04 crores and one should keep seeing crores been added to its total on a daily basis.

As for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it doesn’t have to worry about a sustained run since its daily collections are as it is high, which means it would have played on conventional lines and earned its moolah in quick time, just like most big ticket films do. This is the reason why even Friday to Monday drop won’t really matter much, as long as it’s not too steep since weekend by itself has brought in a very good number of Rs. 40 crores. The film brought in Rs. 5.50 crores* as compared to Friday collections of Rs. 12 crores, and even though numbers in the range of Rs. 6-7 crores would have guaranteed a very good run, the Marvel flick stays on to be in contention to go past the Rs. 100 crores mark.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
