The Salman Khan starrer Tubelight released on Friday. Directed by Kabir Khan the film which marks the reunion of the actor – director duo of Salman and Kabir after that highly successful previous outing Bajrangi Bhaijaan was touted to emerge as one of this year’s biggest money spinners.
However, despite the promotions and hype surrounding the film Tubelight that started on a decent note has not performed as expected at the box office. Though the film’s collections witnessed a spike over the weekend, the collections have been rather tepid when compared to conventional Salman Khan starrers that release during Eid. In fact, Tubelight that hit 5550 screens worldwide has raked in Rs. 110.11 cr gross at the global box office with Rs. 89.96 cr gross coming in from India and another Rs. 20.15 cr gross from the overseas markets.
Given the fact that Tubelight still has a week’s unopposed run ahead, the film which also features Sohail Khan and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu is expected to pick up as time progresses.
